Non-formal education

103. The Bureau of Non-Formal Education collects data through its non-formal
projects.

Special education

104. There are about 700 Pali and Tol colleges and about 800 Quami Madrasah
that are providing special education for respective religious degrees/certificates. There
are separate education boards to administer these institutions, however they are not
under the jurisdiction of the MOE and thus BANBEIS does not collect and process the
data. It is one of the data gaps like the pre-cadet and English medium schools which all
are managed by the private entities.

Staff information

105. For staff information, the MIS unit of DPE maintains a teachers database only
for those serving in the government primary schools but not for NGPS and other primary
level institutions, which cover about 50% of the institutions. The EMIS unit of MOE, i.e.
BANBEIS, maintains a teacher and employee database for all secondary schools,
colleges and Madrasahs, which covers 97% of the institutions under jurisdiction of
MOE. The data are collected during school census and include all basic data on
teachers and employees. This database contains information of about 550,000
individuals. Several department e.g. NAEM, the training institution of MOE and MOE
itself query information about teachers and employee lists as per need from this
database. In addition, BANBEIS also maintains BCS (Education Cadre), a database for
officers who are serving in the public colleges and managerial services in several
departments of MOE and MOPME.

106. The figure below shows the distribution and collection of education statistics
