Figure/ground was discussed earlier, but it is part of Gestalt theory, so we present it here again. This
principle describes the mind’s tendency to see as two different planes of focus, information in both
positive and negative space (see Figure 3.23). It works if those spaces are suggestive enough in their
composition.
