most interesting discovery a few years ago
by Father Strassmeier of a Babylonian tablet
recording a partial lunar eclipse at Baby-
lon in the seventh year of Cambyses, on the
fourteenth day of the Jewish month Tam-
muz.” Ptolemy, in the Almagest (Suntaxis),
