X4-Tropic Virus
Also known as T-tropic virus. A strain of HIV that uses the
chemokine receptor CXCR4 as a coreceptor to bind to and infect
human immune cells. Although some HIV-1 strains are X4-tropic
from the beginning of infection, it is more common for the virus to
switch to using the CXCR4 coreceptor as the disease progresses.
