Multiple eruptive dermatofibromas (MEDF) can rarely be seen in patients with HIV
infection, as well as with other autoimmune diseases and in persons receiving
immunosuppressive therapy. These lesions most often appear on the extremities and the trunk.
Most have been reported in males. Histologically, they are similar to dermatofibromas seen in
patients without HIV infection.[992]
