                                         bridge, and Bessel were followed by Arge-
                                         lander with his 324,000 stars, Rumker’s Para-
                                         matta catalogue of the southern hemisphere,
                                         and the frequent catalogues of national ob-
                                         servatories. Later the Astronomische Gesellschaft
                                         started their great catalogue, the combined
