7.4. Leishmaniasis

               It is protozoal infection of the skin and mucous membrane and visceral organs (liver and

               spleen)

               1. Mode of transmission

               The infection will be caused by bite of insect called sand fly


               2. Incubation period
               From days to months


               3. Source of disease
               Human being and animals like rat, dog and cats

               4. Clinical picture

               Single and multiple lesions will be localized on the face extremities: mouth, nose larynx
               and pharynx that have characteristics of papules progress  to destruction of tissues

               (Ulcer) Pain on the part of lesion
               5. Management

                   1.  Re assure the patient

                   2.  Reduce pain by giving anti pain
                   3.  Clean the ulcerated part with soap and water.

                   4.  Refer patient for treatment with pentostan or pentamdine


               7.5. Acne Vulgaris

                       1. Risk factors

                        ¾  Increased sex hormone level
                        ¾  Increased stress level

                        ¾  Sebaceous gland over secretion of sebum, proliferation of bacteria, excess

                            keratin formation in the follicular duct.
                        ¾  Age: greatest in adolescent after puberty


                       2. Characteristic or features of acne Vulgaris

                          •  Initial formation of a comedo (Black head) or wife head.

                          •  Progress formation of comedones, papules, pustuls.
