compounds, or other substances such as dinitrochlorobenzene or ozone.
As in other chronic diseases, the use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM)
therapies to standard antiretroviral and antimicrobial therapies is widespread in persons with
AIDS, with over half using such alternative therapies. However, less than half of these patients
report CAM use to their physician. The most commonly reported alternative therapies include
exercise, lifestyle changes, dietary supplements, counseling, herbal medications, megavitamins,
and prayer. Of the persons who used such therapies, 70% reported a quality of life
improvement.[312]
